Grimoires / Mars
Mars
Courage, victory, commanding, and defence.
The free operation, The Lion's Heart, runs on any edition of the station, including the free one.
Mars rules courage, strife, victory, command, and the defence of what is yours. His day is Tuesday. His colour is red, from the red of blood to the glow of iron in the forge. His metal is iron and his incense dragon's blood and pepper; the Heptameron gives pepper as the perfume of Tuesday. Agrippa gives him the magic square of five, with Graphiel as his intelligence and Barzabel as his spirit, and writes that the square, engraved on iron under a fortunate Mars, makes a man "potent in war" and "terrible to his enemies, and victorious against them". The Heptameron names Samael as the angel of his day, and the Arbatel names Phaleg, who "ruleth those things which are attributed to Mars". The divine name of his sphere is Elohim Gibor, God of strength.
These operations call on that chain in order: the name, the angel, the intelligence, then the work. On the station they run hot and fast: high frequencies, red frames, the element of Fire, Extreme amplification for hard cases, and pre-hypnosis whenever the work is aimed at another person.
Mars is force, and force needs a rule. Every operation here is for courage, victory, command, or defence, and none is aimed at anyone's body, health, or life; the old works of crossing are in Sword & Sickle. Begin in an hour of Mars, on a Tuesday where you can, with the Moon waxing for work that builds and waning for work that drives something off. Keep a record of everything that happens during an operation: confrontations, openings, how you carried yourself. Mars answers through action, and an operator who acts gives him the most to work with.
The operations
The Lion's HeartFree
To put the heart of a lion into the operator: the courage to act, to speak, and to stand firm.
Victory over an Adversary
To carry the witness to victory in a dispute or contest with an adversary, by strength of case and will, without harm to anyone.
Commanding
An operation of commanding: to bring a person to do one specific thing that the operator requires of them.
Winning the Contest
To bring the operator to a contest at full strength and carry them to victory: a match, a race, a competition, or an audition.
The Iron Wall
To set a guard of Mars about a home and the people in it, and to turn back anyone who comes against them.
Vital Fire
To kindle the fire of Mars in the operator: drive, appetite for work, and the energy to carry a thing through.
Making Them Stop
To turn a person who harasses or pesters the operator away from them, so that they leave the operator alone and go their own way.
Commanding Respect
To win the witness the respect due to them: to be taken seriously, heard when they speak, and given their proper place.
