Kamea sigil generator

Turn a name or a statement of intent into a sigil traced on one of the seven planetary magic squares of Agrippa.

How a kamea sigil is drawn

In the second book of his Three Books of Occult Philosophy (1533), Cornelius Agrippa gives a magic square for each of the seven planets: three by three for Saturn, four by four for Jupiter, and so on up to nine by nine for the Moon. In each square every row, column, and diagonal adds up to the same sum. Agrippa also gives the seals of each planet's intelligence and spirit, and those seals were drawn by turning the letters of the spirit's name into numbers and joining the cells where those numbers stand.

This generator does the same with the Latin alphabet. Each letter becomes its place in the alphabet, A as 1 to Z as 26; on the smaller squares a number too large for the square wraps round. The line runs from cell to cell, with a small circle where it begins, a bar where it ends, and a loop where a cell repeats. With "simplify" on, vowels and repeated letters are dropped first, as many modern sigil-makers do.

Choosing the square

Trace the sigil on the square of the planet that rules the work: Venus for love and friendship, Jupiter for increase and favour, the Sun for success and honour, Mercury for speech, trade, and study, Mars for courage and victory, Saturn for binding and protection, and the Moon for dreams and the home. Load the image into the Psychotron station as a custom symbol, or use the station's own sigil maker, and it will stand over the witness for the whole operation.

The classical seals were made from Hebrew letters and gematria, so a Latin sigil of a spirit's name won't match the seal in Agrippa. For the seals of the 72 spirits of the Goetia, see the 72 seals.
