Saturn

Banishing, protection, endings, and the binding of habits.

The free operation, The Great Banishing, runs on any edition of the station, including the free one.

Saturn rules boundaries, endings, restraint, time, the land, and the dead. His day is Saturday. His colours are black and the dark blue-grey of slate, his metal is lead, and his incense myrrh; the Heptameron's perfume for Saturday is sulphur. Agrippa gives him the smallest of the magic squares, of three, with Agiel as his intelligence and Zazel as his spirit, and writes that the square, engraved on lead under a fortunate Saturn, serves "to make a man safe, and powerfull". The Heptameron names Cassiel as the angel of his day, and the Arbatel names Aratron, who "reconcileth the subterranean spirits to men". The divine name of his sphere is YHVH Elohim.

These operations call on that chain in order: the name, the angel, the intelligence, then the work. They banish, guard, bind, end, and endure. On the station they run slowest of all: frequencies near one, black frames, the element of Earth, and pre-hypnosis wherever the work has to reach a mind.

Begin banishings, bindings, and endings while the Moon wanes; begin guarding, patience, and sales while it waxes, or whenever the need presses. Saturn is the slowest of the planets and the most thorough, so give his operations their full length. The hard works of Saturn, binding an enemy and crossing, are in Sword & Sickle; nothing here is aimed at anyone's harm. Keep a record of what changes during an operation, however small: a quieter house, a habit skipped, a letter answered. Saturn works through weight and time, and a record is how you watch him work.
