Grimoires / The 72
The 72
An operation for every spirit of the Goetia.
The free operation, Sitri: Kindling Desire, runs on any edition of the station, including the free one.
The Goetia, the first book of the Lesser Key of Solomon, lists seventy-two spirits with their ranks, their seals, and their offices. Mathers and Crowley printed it in 1904; it has been worked ever since. This grimoire gives one operation for each spirit, built on that spirit's office, with its seal set in the centre of the chamber.
Rank sets the planet, the metal of the seal, and the colours of the frames: Kings the Sun and gold, Dukes Venus and copper, Princes Jupiter and tin, Marquises the Moon and silver, Presidents Mercury and quicksilver, Earls Mars and an alloy of copper and silver, Knights Saturn and lead. The Goetia also gives the hours when each rank may be bound: "the Kings from 9 till 12 o'clock at noon, and from 3 till sunset; Marquises from 3 in the afternoon till 9 at night, and from 9 at night until sunrise; Dukes from sunrise till noonday in clear weather; Prelates in any hour of the day; Knights from dawning of day till sunrise, or from 4 o'clock till sunset; Presidents in any hour, excepting twilight at night; Counts or Earls any hour of the day, so it be in woods, forests, or other places whither men resort not."
On the station the decagon stands for the triangle of art: the seal sits at its centre, the witness behind it, and the broadcast carries the charge for as long as the operation runs. Keep to the old courtesies. Open with the conjuration, state the charge plainly, renew it daily, and always give the licence to depart at the end, even if nothing seems to have answered. Wear or keep near you a protective figure (the pentagram is in the symbol deck) while you work.
